Canadian border guards were ready to welcome the influx of traffic at the end of Quebec's two-week construction holiday yesterday, but there wasn't all that much to do.

"Whenever there's the end of a big holiday ... we do have higher volumes coming in, so we staff accordingly," said Kareen Dionne, spokesperson for the Canadian Border Services Agency.
